The research project is to
investigate the current green activities in computer parts’ manufacturers in
Thailand which include 11 selected manufacturers who provide in-depth interview
about above framework. Firstly, green
procurement which refers to the activity of purchasing friendly
products and services that cause minimal adverse environmental impacts. The
activity include supplier selection which only produces parts of 'Green
Partners' that meet all requirements of environmental quality standards and
pass the audit process. Second is green manufacturing that generically defined as 'elimination of
waste by re-defining the existing production process or system with 3R in
the procurement process means reuse, recycle and re-assembly. We found that
green manufacturing resulted to activity of hazardous substance control,
energy-efficient technology and 3Rs and waste minimization. Subsequently, green
distribution comprising green packaging and green logistics or transportation.
Packing characteristics including size, shape and material can affect the
transportation where good packaging can reduce material consumption, increase
the use of space in warehouses and trailers, and reduce the amount of handling
required. Finally reverse technology that include the activities of final
treatment, Landfill Company, disassembly recycle plants, waste collectors and
used computer stores
